Rallye

The Annual April Fools Rallye is not a speed event. The rallye is a test of a team’s ability to follow instructions along the route, while looking for signs and situations that fit the definitions of the rallye.

This is the only rallye which ESCA currently opens to the public and the rallye’s profits are donated to Canine Companions. In 2019 the rallye donated $750.

A rallye is jokingly referred to as the longest distance between two points. In a variety rallye, participants are given a set of instructions for a route several miles long. It is a test of the ability of the driver and navigator to follow those instructions as they travel on the roads looking for signs and situations that fit the definitions of the rallye. A rallye is not a race. ESCA sponsors the annual April Fools Rallye, which is open to the public as well as several others for the enjoyment of club members. Several of ESCA‘s rallyes have won the NCSCC Variety Rallye of the Year Award .

The A-B Rallye

This rallye is a test of a team’s ability to follow instructions along the route, while looking for signs and situations that fit the definitions of this particular A-B Rallye. (The General Instructions and Definitions change with each rallye presented). It is called an A-B Rallye because you have the choice to choose either the A part or the B part of the Route Instructions. In this ESCA rallye you are told that if both instructions (A and B) can be executed at the same location, then you do part A and choose C on your score sheet. Rarely does anyone get lost and the time limit is always sufficient.

Use this link to run a Paper Map A-B Rallye (similar to the Annual April Fools A-B Rallye), and get a critique of the correct answers.
